Happy Thursday everyone!
I really must complete projects that I have started before I flitter to the next! Yes, flitter is a word. I looked it up. Evidently it means, to "move quickly in an apparently random or puposeless manner", according to google search. There is no rhyme or reason to my project hopping. My craft room ends up cluttered with started projects and nothing completed. I have always dreamed of making more than one of the projects that I really loved how they turned out so that I would have them on hand to give as gifts when the occasion arose. I haven't to this point been able to do this. I am a dreamer and stand on hope like it's a concrete platform! So in my mind, I still hope to do this. Does anyone besides me have these project hopping tendencies or am I the lone wolf in this?
Speaking of cluttered craft rooms, as soon as it gets a bit warmer, my husband has promised to transform the building beside the house into a very large craft building just for me! I am very excited about this. What is now my craft room will be my grand baby's room. I am thinking about, when this is complete, seeing if anyone would be interested at gathering once a month to do crafts. If anyone would be interested just let me know. I have had someone interested in learning to crochet and we could teach, learn, gather, and maybe make some things for charity, but basically just have a great time being together. We shall see...
Well, it is snowing here today and very cold again in Arkansas terms anyway. I wish you all warmth, happiness, and a blessed day!
Cindy
Welcome to Hooks and Chains! My intentions are to post crafts that I have made, some how to's, some tips, some tricks, and some good ideas that I believe are worth sharing.

Valentine Box
Hi Everyone!
It is very cold outside today. The weather was bad yesterday and I stayed home from work and off the roads. This gave me plenty of time to complete the body of my Relay For Life Afghan and work on a Valentine box for work.
We are having a potluck Valentine Party at work and a Valentine box contest. I decided to crochet one. I did not have a pattern. I just flew by the seat of my pants if you will.
I did a series of increases and decreases and made 2 hearts.
For the bottom, I single crocheted in the back loops around so that the sides would turn up. I continued in single crochet until the sides where about 2 inches tall. I lined the sides with some plastic so the sides stand up.
For the top, I single crocheted around and then did a row of (sc, ch 2, skip one sc, sc). Then I worked in the first ch 2 (sc, hdc, dc, tp, picot, dc, hdc, sc) sl in next ch 2 around.
I crocheted a couple of chains and hot glued them on the top of the box as the "be mine" words.
I crocheted a chocolate covered strawberry. I had no pattern. I just single crocheted a circle and then started decreasing so that it was shaped like a strawberry. I made a leaf by chaining 6 and working sc, hdc, dc, tp, dc, hdc then fastened off. I sewed the leaf to the top with the extra length i left when fastening off. i made a circle of single crochet with brown and attached to the bottom of the strawberry so it looks like chocolate. I hot glued it to the top of the box.
I added some hot glued on sparkle and crocheted some hearts following chrochetspot.com mystery valentine crochet along heart pattern and attached them to the box.
It was fun and turned out cute.

Mystery crochet along owl
Happy Sunday everyone! I completed a mystery crochet along that crochet spot was doing. It was my first one and I had a blast! The outcome was a cute owl that I will be giving to Elle my granddaughter.
It is snowing today and cold. A good day for crochet!
The mystery crochet along was a four week project. We were to pick two colors of yarn and follow each weeks instructions until it was complete. A lot of fun and a really cute owl it turned out to be. I took a couple of liberties and added hair and a two heart bow! I just love it. Let me know what you think.

I am making an afghan to help raise money for the Relay for Life team at work. It is Chevron or ripple afghan made in alternating white, dark purple, and light purple. I'll post a final picture when it is complete.
