Random crafts

I have the attention spam of what I imagine a gnat would have! I flitter like a fairy from one craft to the next! Here are some things I have made including some food.

Elle's mini mouse halloween costume

I put together Elle's Halloween costume this year. I made the ears and tutu. I decorated a black onsie and we bought red glitter shoes and leg warmers. She turned out cute as a mouse! the tutu and ears cost me about $5 dollars total. I used a bit of tulle and cut some felt for the white circles. I tied the tulle and ribbon to a piece of elastic. I cut the ears from a piece of stuff that was like felt but glittery. I hot glued them to a headband. I added a glittery M (for Minnie Mouse) and a bow. Here is a picture:

Everything a Fairy would love

I must have spring on the brain. I am dreaming of making Fairy Gardens in my yard. Originally I told myself it would be for my granddaughter Elle, that she would just love these one day. In all reality, I think i am in love with the idea of them. They seem so magical just like Christmas seems so magical. My ideas are full of glitter, sparkle, and tiny spaces. I can imagine myself living in the tiny worlds my mind is creating.

Since it's still cold, I have decided to start indoors in the warmth by creating tiny fairy furniture. I started out with my beloved Pinterest and Youtube and started sparking my minds imagination. I went in the yard and started collecting objects such as pine needles, bark, wood, acorns, twigs and anything I thought I might could use. I raided my craft room for all the glitz and hot glue and sticks! I have completed a sweet little table complete with food and table arrangement, 2 chairs, a broom, a stove, a kitchen sink, a bed, 2 night stands with lamps. Here are the pictures. I know they aren't very good. I will post better ones this weekend.

Jennifer Hansen's Rebel Cardi Craftsy class

I took a class with Jennifer Hansen on Craftsy.com. This is the Rebel Cardi using broomstick lace technique. Actually I have taken all of her classes on Craftsy.com and just love her. I want to take one of her clases in person one day. She lives in California and I live in Arkansas so I don't know maybe one day. It's on my bucket list. She has her own website stitchdiva.com. I ordered the suggested yarn which was a cotton tape. Loved this cotton tape! This took me 4 months of working off and on to complete. I do have a full time job and a grand baby and my LWML church group and my relay for life fundraisers. I also have the attention span of what I imagine a gnat would be. It was by far the most challenging project I have ever completed! The cardi fit, is beautiful and I love it!

While taking this class, I found out about the Euro Steam Iron to use to block my work. You can buy this on her website as well as QVC and other places. I don't know what I ever did without this iron.

Here are the pics. Yes that as me, such a model!

bubble gum necklaces

These are some bubblegum necklaces I decided to try my hand at. For anyone that doesn't know what that is, evidently it is term used for very chunky necklaces for little girls where the beads are big and look like bubblegum balls. I found online where some people actually make them out of real gum balls. Elle, my granddaughter, just loves them! I found that buying beads in bulk online is cheaper than buying from the craft stores in our area. These are not cheap to make either way in my opinion. I think for 8 necklaces the total came to about $125 after purchasing the wire, a 3 in 1 tool, a bead board (which I highly recommend), clasps, and beads. It took very little time to make these. These were very fun to make!

This one Turned out to be my favorite.
Here is Elle showing off one of the necklaces!
